Atacames
The name of "Atacames" appears since pre-Hispanic times because it was inhabited by Indians of the Tacames or Atacames culture. Atacames is known as Santa Rosa de Atacames. It is famous throughout the country for having one of the largest beaches in Ecuador and one of the closest to Quito. It is located in the north of the Coast of Ecuador, settled on an extensive plain, on the shores of the Pacific Ocean, crossed by the Atacames River. Atacames attracts lovers of the sea, those who wish to practice water skiing, diving, fishing and sport sailingor simply enjoy the warm waters of its sea.
Tonsupa
Located at 26 kilometers southwest of Esmeraldas this beautiful beach of Tonsupa has acomplete infrastructure to please the most demanding tourists and from where you can walk and observe the most beautiful sunsets. Just 45 minutes by bus from Esmeraldas, Tonsupa have comfortable hotels, resorts and nightclubs of great category for tourists who try to enjoy its quiet beaches and sunny days. Tonsupa is a destination for the family, you can come to this nice beach with your children. It has beautiful waves and clean sand. You can eat many dishes from the sea such as fish, lobster and the famous ceviche.
Sua
It is the first beach in the province of Esmeraldas very busy on weekends and holidays. The tranquility of its waters, the cozy landscape, its exuberant flora and fauna very typical of the Galapagos, are some of its most outstanding characteristics. The beach is like a large pool that allows tourists to bathe, swim and enjoy the tranquility of the sea. The restaurants located in this area have all the delights of the sea. Súa belongs to the tropical dry forest life zone; along the beach you will find coconut trees and you can observe the seagulls from the area.
Same
Same is located at 30 km southwest of Esmeraldas and 6 km from Atacames. It is the ideal place to rest it’s fascinating atmosphere and the tranquility reigning in the surrounding sectors.The beach has an approximate extension of 5 to 6 km and has a perfect tropical climate almost all year round (1º C to 32º C), which allows you to enjoy all kinds of activities both day and night. “Same Beach" is surrounded by exquisite vegetation that gives it a much more tropical atmosphere with palm trees and coconut trees, where tourists can enjoy a pleasant holiday.
