Montecristi City
Is located a hundred meters abovesea level. Montecristi extends to the foothills of the hill of its own name and it was founded in 1741. In Montecristi you can visit a historical building suchas “Alfaro’s House” you can see the remains of the ship Alajuela where Alfaro was in the naval battle of December 6, 1884 to avoid falling into the hands of the enemy, Alfaro burned his ship and threw himself into the sea. In addition to its historical importance, Montecristi is the emporium of manabita craftsmanship of toquilla straw, wicker and bejuco, the tradition of the man of Montecristi has not changed and in the region a historical artisan vocation is preserved.
Maryland Waterfall
Located an hour away from the center of Jipijapa, the way to reach this waterfall is in good condition, this site is recognized by tourists for its three jumps and its phenomenal view where you can appreciate an unparalleled landscape from any of the three viewpoints.
Salto del Armadillo Waterfall
The waterfall is a little more than 10 meters high and 30 to 40 meters wide. This waterfall is the perfect spot to visit for tourists from Manabí, Guayas and Los Ríos. Within the reserve you can see many animals including rabbit, agouti, armadillo, oncilla, partridge, hawks, and several varieties of snakes.
Protected Area Pacoche
This protected area was created in 2008 and it has 50’450.000 square meters. It has a diversity of wildlife and plants in the region such as: guadúa cane, laurel, guaba, higuerón, coffee and toquilla straw. This protected area has become one of the favorite destinations of bird watching due to the large number of birds that lives in the trails called “El Faro” and “Pasaje del Mono”.
Manta
Located on the Pacific coast, Manta has the largest seaport in Ecuador. The port was used by Charles Marie de La Condamine upon his arrival in Ecuador in 1735 when leading the French mission to measure the location of the equator. From Manta, Condamine started his trip towards to Quito. Manta receives numerous visits from foreign as well as local tourists. The most visited beaches include "El Murciélago","Santa Marianita", "San Lorenzo" and "Barbasquillo". Surfers often travel to San Lorenzo to find powerful waves, which are regularly head high. Kitesurfing has recently become very popular in Santa Marianita (Playa Bonita) because of the excellent wind conditions and a long beach.
Puerto Lopez
Puerto López is well known for performing the Humpback Whale Watching Festival every year. By the dates of June to September Ecuador becomes the reproductive destination of humpback whales, that travel thousands of kilometers from the Antarctica to reproduce in our warm Pacific waters. This long journey has been done for centuries, but in the last 25 years has promoted humpback whale watching tours to promote the development of Ecuadorian tourism.
Guayaquil is one of the main South American ports in the Pacific. The climate is hot for the first semester of the year and breeze cool for the rest of it. A proud city of the tropics where foreigners are well received, music rules and seafood is a must.
Quito, the capital of Ecuador, was founded in the 16th century on the ruins of an Inca city and stands at an altitude of 2,850 m. Despite the 1917 earthquake, the city has the best-preserved, least altered historic centre in Latin America. The monasteries of San Francisco and Santo Domingo, and the Church and Jesuit College of La Compañía, with their rich interiors, are pure examples of the 'Baroque school of Quito', which is a fusion of Spanish, Italian, Moorish, Flemish and indigenous art.
Esmeraldas Province is one of the 24 provinces of Ecuador, located in the extreme northwest of the country on the border with Colombia. Known for its beautiful beaches, landscapes and its hot and humid climate. Esmeraldas is synonymous with music and joy. It has its own musical instruments such as the famous marimba.
