PRINCIPAL ATRACTIONS
Surf
There’s a consistent beach break with sand bottom for about 2 km long and a rock-bottom right point break, called La Punta. Montañita is a great option for surfers of all levels, from beginners that can learn in the beach break to intermediates and experts that will love surfing both the point and the beach break.
Paragliding and Parasailing
Along Montañita’s main beach you can organise paragliding and parasailing trips.
Parasailing involves being strapped into a special parachute, or parasail and being pulled behind a speeding boat. Depending on the speed of the boat, size of your parasail and weather conditions, you can expect to get up to between 650-1300 ft. Most of these flights will last 15-20 minutes and cost around $20.00 USD.
Paragliding differs because there is no boat. Instead, the pilot will have a fan engine strapped to their back which provides enough thrust to keep you airborne. You always fly with a pilot who has total control over the paraglider. Typically, flights will last 20-30 minutes and cost anywhere between $30.00-$50.00 USD, depending on the season.
Go Diving
If you would like to see some spectacular marine life you can go diving in Montañita as Ecuador is home to many extraordinary and unique creatures. You might be lucky and spot a whale, turtles and random fish. If you are not a certified diver yet, you can learn how to scuba dive and get certified.

Quito, the capital of Ecuador, was founded in the 16th century on the ruins of an Inca city and stands at an altitude of 2,850 m. Despite the 1917 earthquake, the city has the best-preserved, least altered historic centre in Latin America. The monasteries of San Francisco and Santo Domingo, and the Church and Jesuit College of La Compañía, with their rich interiors, are pure examples of the 'Baroque school of Quito', which is a fusion of Spanish, Italian, Moorish, Flemish and indigenous art.
